Connecting With God

In marriage, we often look to connect with our spouse in a special way that allows for God to receive the glory through our Spiritual connection. God is desiring to give practical wisdom and assurance on what it will take to better connect in a relationship with Him first and then we will better understand our connection with our beloved spouse.

Scripture reminds us to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3: 18). In order for the connection between husband and wife to be authentic, they must strategically connect with the source who supplies all needs spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. The divine order of connection is  “God first, spouse second, family third and everything else afterwards”. In essence, what does it really mean to connect with God first and foremost?

Love the Lord with All Your Heart, Soul and Mind

When a husband or wife continue to build loving capacity in their efforts to grow deeper in their relationship with God, God alone will afford opportunities for husband and wife to be Spiritually rewarded for seeking Him first. By“Loving the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37), God will then guide you through the trials of life in which we will experience at some point along this journey of marriage.

Seeing Marriage from a Triangular Perspective

When we think about our connectivity with God, let’s look at this from a triangular perspective. With God, rightfully placed at the top of the triangle point, the husband and wife are strategically placed at either point on the bottom. With this triangular diagram, we can see how the connectivity between God, husband and wife continues to be at the center of our Spiritual and relational journey. God is looking for us to strengthen our relationship with Him personally and together as a couple when our connectivity flows through Him.

Seek God for Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding

Connecting with God is much more than having an intentional thought, but a connection which requires a deliberate action through prayer and devotion. By seeking God for wisdom, knowledge and understanding on how to be the husband and wife after His own heart, He will provide everything we need to honor Him and our spouse. Couples who stay connected to the source in God will experience greater joy as they grow closer by creating a spiritual bond that is unbreakable. Seek to strengthen your connection with the Savior Jesus Christ, besides, He alone has the answers to all of your needs, questions and thoughts. Trust God…Remain a Devoted Spouse!
